You're wrong은 생각보다 훨씬 단호박 대답입니다. 공격적이고 차가운 표현이기 때문에 좀 더 부드러운 표현을 사용하는 것이 좋다.

 

ex)Really? I heard that is was Canberra.Are you sure? I thought that it was Canberra.I think you might be mistaken. The capital of Australia is Canberra.

Bad = 나쁘다는 뜻이 아니다?!

기본적으로는 나쁘다는 의미이지만 미국인이 표현을 강조하기 위한 은어로 많이 쓰는 bad!

ex)

I need you so bad.

I miss you so bad.

I need your help so bad.

I want to but that motorcycle so bad.

 

회사 다닌다' 혹시 영어로 이렇게 말하세요?

한국말로는 '회사 다닌다' '직장 다녀' 라고 표현해도 어색하지 않지만 영어로는 살짝 어색할 수 있답니다.

보통은 회사 이름 혹은 분야까지 말한다.

취준생이에요 : Job seeker라고 하면 어색한 이유?!

Job seeker은 다른 사람에 대해서 말하거나 신문 기사 같은데서 많이 사용하는 표현이다. 

자신의 상태를 표현할 때는 좀 어색할 수 있다.

 

ex)

I'm looking for work.

I'm job hunting.

I putting together my portfolio.

I'm unemployed.

I'm between jobs.

 

I'm sorry = 꼭 미안하다는 뜻이 아니다?!

I'm sorry 에는 '안됐네', '저런..' 이라는 의미도 있다.

I'm sorry to hear that. 과 비슷한 의미를 가진 표현이다.

 

ex)

I sorry about what happened to you.

I know how you feel.

 

안 좋아해 'I don't like it' 라고 하세요? feat. 마음의 상처

취향을 말할 때 'I don't like it' 혹은 'I don't like that' 하시죠?

그 표현보다 더 부드럽게 말하는 방법이 많답니다.

 

I'm not into that.        (be into~ 를 좋아하다.)

I'm not a big fan of that.

It's just not for me.

I'm not crazy about it.

A: I don't like that.

Nice to meet you 반갑다는 뜻이 아니다?!

Nice to meet you는 처음 만난 상황에서만 쓸 수 있다. 

'반가워요' 보다 '처음 뵙겠습니다.'라는 의미가 더 적절하다.

 

It's nice to meet you again.

It was nice to see you again.

Good to see you again.

It was good seeing you.

 

 

뉴페이스 만나고 싶어요 : 영어로 이렇게 말하면 큰일나?!

I want to a new face 라고 말하면 성형수술을 하고 싶다는 의미로 받아들여질 수 있다. 

 

식스팩 갖고 싶다.  = I want a sixpack.

코수술 하고 싶어. = I want a nose job.

 

I want to meet someone new.

I want to meet new people.

I want to meet a new woman/man.

 

It looks like we have some new faces today.                                    오늘 새로운 사람들이 좀 생긴 것 같네.
